About Rev. Everett
St. Gabriel’s rector Rev. Everett W. Charters IV grew up in Maine and was raised in the Roman Catholic Church. He attended New York University where he graduated with a BA in History. He spent many years working for The Asia Foundation in San Francisco, CA before moving briefly to Oregon before heading to Hawai’i. He eventually returned to Oregon and now lives in Forest Grove.
Everett+ (as he prefers to be known as) was confirmed in the Episcopal Church at St. Gabriel on December 13, 2015, and so it is full circle that he is serving in his first position in ordained ministry with us. He completed his MDiv. program at the Church Divinity School of the Pacific and was ordained to the transitional diaconate in June 2020. In December 2020 Everett+ was ordained to the priesthood and on Pentecost Sunday, June 5, 2022, Everett+ was installed as the permanent priest-in-charge at St. Gabriel. In June 2024 Everett+ was voted in by the vestry as our rector and to our joy he continues to serve St. Gabriel in that capacity.

Meet Our Lay Ministers
Robin Mullins is our senior warden, one of two elected lay leaders of our parish (the other being the junior warden), chosen by the vestry and serving alongside the rector. She is the primary elected lay leader and acts as a principal liaison between the parish and the rector.
Robin was baptized into the Episcopal Church in 1995 in Los Angeles, CA, and with her partner Erin and their three sons, moved to Portland in 2011. They attended several churches in the area regularly over the years, but had not found a place where they truly felt at home until they walked into the warm welcome at St. Gabriel in September 2024. Robin’s first thoughts were “How nice these people are!” and “Here is a place where people take their faith seriously.” Liam (18), Samuel (14) and Julian (14) were baptized at St. Gabriel by Bishop Akiyama in November 2024, and in August 2025, Robin joined the vestry to complete a departing member’s remaining 5 month term. Robin is grateful and delighted to continue serving on the vestry and walking together with you as we work to answer God’s call for our church.
Ginger Hess is our junior warden, the other elected lay leader of our parish (the other being the senior warden), chosen by the vestry and serving alongside the rector. Our jr. warden is essentially the “warden to the people”, ensuring the physical and communal infrastructure of the parish is well-maintained, fostering a positive community atmosphere, and supporting the vestry’s leadership.
Ginger was raised as a Lutheran and even went to Pacific Lutheran University. When she married she and her husband wanted to go to the Episcopal Church. They went and they liked it, and Ginger has been an Episcopalian ever since. As soon as Ginger finally landed at St. Gabriel, she quickly got involved in things. Currently she is serving as jr. warden for the second time. Ginger says, “I’m not an organizer or a planner but if somebody tells me to get something done, I can do it. That’s why this job fits me so well.”
Sean Fitzgerald is St. Gabriel’s sexton, working with the junior warden to ensure the physical infrastructure of the parish is well-maintained, including seeing to the maintenance of the church including the building, equipment, furnishings and grounds.
Sean and his wife Vicki have been attending St. Gabriel since 2014. Sean has been on the vestry and recently joined the technology ministry team to run the online Zoom camera at the 8:00 am service. He finds joy helping out around the church.
Meet Our Family Ministry Team
About Page
Page has many years of experience teaching and writing curriculum in the Bethany community. As our family minister she administers our church school with the assistance of Whitney Joshi, writes children’s and youth curriculum, oversees our sr. youth ministry, and provides outreach to post-high school emerging adults. She manages children’s and youth outreach and service opportunities, special events, and pastoral care. Page is the editor of our weekly emailed church newsletter “The Messenger” and manages our public communication.
In her off time, Page enjoys making art, going vintage treasure hunting, listening to British Invasion rock, and seeing movies in the theater. At church, teaching children and creating learning experiences for them fills her up and brings her joy!
About Tara
Tara is our senior youth minister for 8th-12th graders, and she cares deeply about helping children and young adults develop their relationship with God and His Church.
She (mostly) grew up near Yosemite (although she does remember attending St. Gabriel for a bit in the early 90’s!) and has been calling Portland home since 2003. Tara loves reading, drinking tea, going to the movies, and learning and teaching new skills—she particularly enjoys spending time with people while knitting, crocheting, quilting, or painting.
Tara encourages adolescents to deeply interface with their developing beliefs, to engage authentically with the world around them, and to learn to lean into God, their strongest and most faithful supporter, as they start to navigate an increasingly complex world.
About Gillian
Gillian is very impressed with the youth of St. Gabriel and is here to learn from them as she serves as the sr. youth leader of our 8th- 12th graders along with Tara. She holds a Masters in Fine Arts from the University of Texas at Austin New Writers Project, where she taught creative writing to college students. After spending some time at home with kids, she now works as a grant writer.
Gillian loves to read, write creatively, and garden with native plants. She also has the great good fortune of being the mother of two marvelous girls, Edith and Cordelia. Her husband is the amazing Jack Graham of FLIP Museum fame.
Meet Our Music Team
About Jessica
Jessica is our choir director and presents special themed worship services and performances at St. Gabriel that include her talented family and friends. She is an accomplished singer, conductor, and educator who has captivated audiences in both jazz and classical music. When not at St. Gabriel, she regularly performs across the region. Jessica continues to offer the congregation incredible music either live or recorded as we have hybrid online and in-person worship.
About Stephanie
Stephanie takes delight in exploring textures and tone colors in solo and collaborative repertoire. A passionate advocate of art song, she is committed to text analysis and expressing poetic nuance in music. She is staff accompanist and teaches classical piano and piano accompaniment at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon, where she performs with all three choral ensembles. When not playing piano, Stephanie can usually be found entangled in yarn or trapped under cats.
